For one of my classes I had to write a blog on my teaching philosophy. Why I wanted to become an elementary school teacher and what my plans for teaching are. Here it goes. For my whole life I have always loved being around children. Something has always drawn me to them, and them to me. My junior year of high school is when I really started to consider being a teacher. It was something that sounded fun to me. I decided that i was going to sign up to be in the preschool class at my school for one of my classes. I knew that if i loved that class I would become a teacher, if not being a teacher was not right for me. I turned out that the preschool was my favorite class my senior year. That was it, my mind was made up, I was going to be a teacher! Ever since that I have not thought about changing my mind, or ever wanted to. The further I get into the education program the more I know i want to be an elementary teacher. I love being in the classroom, seeing the light bulbs turn on it children's heads, the excitement the children bring in the classroom, and everything else about teaching!
I am not sure exactly what grade I want to teach yet, but I know one of the younger grades like 2nd grade or maybe even preschool. I want to have a classroom where every child feels comfortable to learn, a judge free zone. I want to help children reach there full potential. To show them that learning really is fun! I want the children in my class to know they can be successful if they try. Think back to your favorite teachers growing up. What were they like? What did they do that made them your favorite? I want to be a teacher that the students can look back on and have positive memories. Nobody promised teaching would be easy. In fact they tell us all the time it is not an easy job. I don't care I want to be a teacher and help children succeed. It is what I want to do.
